Abstract
In 2016, the International Symposium on Next-Generation Batteries was held at the Institute for Superconducting and Electronic Materials (ISEM) in the innovation campus (top part of the photo taken by Dr. Zhixin Tai) of the University of Wollongong. ISEM has grown from a handful of people in 1994 to more than 150 people today and is a well-recognized research establishment. The success of the ISEM has come in part from the strong international research collaborations forged with institutions around the world. ISEM has a strong focus on next-generation battery research (bottom part of the photo taken by Paul Jones).
