Abstract

Certain halophenols were treated with chlorosilanes to form (ha1ophenoxy)-silanes. Silylphenoxysilanes were prepared in good yields from (ha1ophenoxy)-silanes, chlorosilanes and sodium or potassium metal. Hydrolysis of silylphenoxysilanes is described as leading to various silylphenols or, in some cases, complex cleavage products.
