Abstract

The ionisation equilibria of diarylmethyl chlorides Ar2 CHCl (Ar= p-CH 3 0-C 6 H 4, p-PhO- C6 H4, p-CH3-C6 H4) reacting with BC13 in CH2 C12 to give ion-pairs Ar2 CH+ BCLr (K {), and the dissociation of these (ΚΌ) were studied by conductimetry and spectro-photometry. The molar conductivities are almost independent of the nature of the aryl group («3.5· 10~ 3 Sm2/mol at—70 C). The ionisation constants K\ increase strongly with increasing electron ...
