Abstract
The scope and limitations of the one-pot synthesis of benzofurans by aryne condensations of the cyclic ketone enolatee with dihalogenobenzenes in the presence of the complex base NaNH2-t-BuONa were studied. It is shown that this method is of interest for the synthesis of a large variety of benzofurans. A new, simple, and selective monodealkylation of (dialky1amino) benzene derivatives by chloroethyl chloroformate is reported.
