Abstract

Decarboxylation of (+)-cis-2-phenylcyclopropane-carboxylic acid (3b) with lead tetraacetate in benzene or in the presence of iodine gives (−)-(1R: 2R)-trans-1, 2-diphenylcyclopropane (7) and (−)-(1R: 2S)-trans-2-phenylcyclopropyliodide (12a), respectively.
