Abstract

Τhe reaction of organolithium compounds with carbon dioxide is a standard procedure to prepare carboxylic acids. 1a In general, small amounts of a ketone are obtained in this process as a byproduct. However, the preparation of ketones1b from carboxylates and organolithium compounds can be achieved only under prolonged reflux, 2 using sonication, 3 or in the presence of cerium-(III) chloride. 4 Methodologies for ketone synthesis ...
