Abstract

Abstract The thermal stability of perfluorinated iodides depends on their structure and decreases in the order of RF CF 2 CF 2 I> RF CF 2 CF (CF 3) I> RF OCF (CF 3) I≈ RF CF 2 C (CF 3) 2 I. The major decomposition path consists of the elimination of an unsaturated compound (CF 2 CF 2, CF 2 CF CF 3, O CF CF 3, CF 2 C (CF 3) 2, respectively) with concomitant formation of RF I.
