Abstract M (OR) n Cl 3− n compounds (M= Ti, V; R= Me, Et, Bu n; n= 1, 2) were prepared by reaction of anhydrous metal trichlorides and trialkyl orthoformates. The reaction mechanism probably involves a six-member cyclic intermediate. The alkoxy-chloro compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses, X-ray powder diffraction, infrared spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibilities.
