Abstract

The Friedel-Crafta acylation reaction was studied on several acid-sensitive substrates. Under the proper conditions of varying Lewis acids, solvents, and reaction temperatures, the acylation indeed took place, thus obviating the necessity for functional group protection- deprotection sequences.
