Abstract

Results Results obtained are summarized in Table I. As in the case of l-naphthol12 the reaction of 2-naphthol with methanol yields four types of products in the temperature range studied, ie., methyl naphthyl ethers (3, 4), methylated naphthols (almost entirely 5), methylated oxo compounds (6, 7), and methylnaphthalenes (8-17).
