Abstract

Abstract Stepwise oxidation of p-tolyl p-methoxydithiobenzoate (1) gives the sulfines (thione oxides) AnC (= S= O) STol (2), AnC (= S= O) SOTol (3) and AnC (= S= O) SO 2 Tol (4)(An= p- CH 3 OC 6 H 4 and Tol= p-CH 3 C 6 H 4). Reaction of 2 with p-toluenethiol (TolSH) in the presence of Et 3 N furnishes AnCH (STol) SSTol (5). The sulfine 4 yields with TolSH/Et 3 N 5 and AnCH 2 SO 2 Tol (6), with EtSH/Et 3 N AnCH (SEt) SSEt (7) and with t-BuSH/Et 3 N ...
