Abstract Regioselective addition of thiophenol to α, β-unsaturated N-acylbenzotriazoles has been achieved by controlling the conditions. Thus, three types of products, namely α, β- unsaturated thioesters, β-thiophenoxy substituted N-acylbenzotriazoles, and β-thiophenoxy substituted thioesters were selectively obtained in good to excellent yields.
