Abstract

1, 6-Dioxaspiro [4, 41nonane (I) gives on acidolysis with formic acid, acetic acid, and chloroacetic acid 1, 7-bis (acyloxy)-4-heptanones IIb-IId. Acyloxy derivatives IIb and IIc were also obtained on reaction of lactone IV with formic or acetic acids. On acetylation of I with acetic anhydride 1, 7-bis (acetoxy)-4-heptanone IIc is formed, and in the presence of acetyl chloride I is transformed to l-acetoxy-7-chloro-4-heptanone (X), which cyclises under the ...
