Abstract: N-Nitroso amides derived from phenylalanine and alanine were utilized as inhibitors of a-chymotrypsin, During the enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis of these substrates, carbonium ions capable of alkylating nucleophilic groups are released in the active site.
