Abstract

Bis (trifluoromethy1) tellurium reacts with 12, Sg, Se, P4, and As at 220 OC to afford CF31,(CF3) 2S,(CFJge,(CF3), P, and (CF,),?, which are separated in 97, 92, 92, 70, and 46% yields, respectively. The interaction of (CFJ2Te with Sb at 170 OC results in very small amounts of (CF3), Sb, ca. 3%, but no (trifluoromethy1) germanes were observed when (CF3) 2Te was exposed to Ge at 170 OC.
