Abstract

The mononuclear active sites of certain molybdoen~ ymes~~~ that catalyze oxygen atom transfer reactions are becoming increasingly defined structurally from chemical, EPR, 4 and Mo EXAFS5s6 results. Sulfite oxidase, for example, appears to have the (minimal) coordination units MoV1O2S2,,(N/0) and MoIVOS3 in its oxidized and fully reduced forms, 6 respectively.
