An efficient electrosynthesis of homoallylic alcohols from allylic chlorides or acetates and carbonyl compounds in the presence of catalytic amounts of Ni13r2 (bpy) complex (bpy= 2, 2'-bipyridine) is achieved in a onecompartment cell fitted with a sacrificial zinc anode.
