Abstract

Results Reductions in Aqueous Sulfuric Acid-Ethyl Ether Mixtures. Aldehydes and ketones are conveniently reduced to alcohols without structural rearrangement by alkylsilanes in aqueous sulfuric acid using ethyl ether as the solvent. la The alkylsilanes are, in turn, oxidized to the corresponding alkylsilanols.
