The rigid macrocycle incorporating an ethylene bridge across cyclam (cross-bridged cyclam, CBC) allows preparation of a wide variety of (CBC) ZrX2 species including the zirconacyclopentadiene (CBC) Zr (C4Ph4). Crystallographic studies show that the geometry of the (CBC) Zr unit is remarkably constant regardless of the identity of the X2 groups.
