Abstract

For the formation of the double bond of the azepine ring, bromine is introduced into the 10 position by refluxlng VI in CC14 with 1, 3-dibromo-5, 5-dimethylhydantoinlnthe presence of benzoyl peroxide; and the bromo derivative (VII) is obtained in-90Z yield [ii].
