Abstract

In a first attempt, we observed that the highly useful, nonnucleophilic strong base, lithium diisopropylamide (LDA) can be prepared without effort from diisopropylamine, lithium, and butyl halides by sonication at 15-18" C of the mixture in dry tetrahydrofuran (THF).
