Lithium and sodium tetraalkylboron compounds have been prepared by the reaction of alkyllithium and alkylsodium reagents with trialkylboranes. These tetraalkylboron compounds show extreme reactivity toward air and were therefore identified by the formation of stable tetramet, hylammoniuni and t, etrabut, ylphosphonium derivatives.
