Abstract

5% AgNO: saturated TEG on Chromosorb P at 0" column tempera-ture.(13) A recent report (cf. DC Dittmer, GE Kuhlmann, and GC Levy, J. Org. Chem., 35, 3676 (1970)) describes the results of pyrolysis of dibenzoylstilbene episulfoxide. We believe the difference between these results and our own to lie in the presence of aryl substituents in the stilbene cases, which allow interconversion to the postulated 1, 2-oxathietane.
