Abstract

The title compound is detected directly in solution at room temperature for the first time, and its reactivity toward a number of nucleophiles is determined quantitatively. It exhibits fully duffusion-controlled reactivity with methanol in hexane and is thus identified as the most highly electrophilic silene yet known.
