Abstract

Tetrabromomethyl m-terphenyl4 was used to construct tetrakis-N-tosylamide cuppedophanes 8-10 and, by detosylation, the corresponding tetraazacuppedophanes 17- 19. The para-and meta-bridged tosylamides 8 and 9 are conformationally rigid, but the ortho- bridged isomer 10 is conformationally mobile.
