Abstract

The precursor of benzoylmesitylacetylene was obtained by treating the enol methyl ether of 2, 4, 6-trimethylbenzoylacetonitrile with phenylmagnesium bromide and decomposing the reaction mixture with dilute sulfuric acid. 2 It separated as a yellow, amorphous compound, insoluble in water, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, ligroin and ethyl acetate.
