Nine new aliphatic and or,@-unsaturated triamides were prepared from acyl chlorides and amides in the presence of pyridine or or-substituted pyridines. Factors which affect the extent of amide acylation are (1) the sequence of reactant and pyridine mixing;(2) temperature; and (3) substitution at the 01 positions of both acyl chloride and the pyridine.
