Abstract: The synthesis of isorobustin L in four steps from S-methoxyresorcinol proceeds in an overall yield of 34%. The key step involves the arylation of a I-hydroxy-IH-lbensopyran-2- one 4 by 3.4~ met~ lenedio~ pknylleaa'triacetate 2 in a chemoselective and regioselective manner.
