Abstract

The haloalcohol dehalogenase from Agrobacterium radiobacter AD1 catalyses the reversible ring closure of vicinal haloalcohols to produce epoxides and halides. In the ring opening of epoxides, nonhalide nucleophiles such as N3− are accepted.
