Abstract

Abstract: The transition metal complex promoted isomerization of tricyclo [4.1. OO* J] heptane (5) and l-methyltricyclc [4.1. 0.02 J] heptane (13) has been studied in detail. Derivatives of copper, iridium, mercury, palladium, platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, tin, and zinc were found to readily bring about the rearrangement of 5 to norcarene, 3- methylenecyclohexene, or 1, 3-~ ycloheptadiene.
