Abstract

Representative 2-arninobenzenethiols were needed to synthesize a series of phos- phothiazoles. Surprisingly few of the simple aminothiols are known, the yields are generally poor, and experimental details are often lacking. Much of the difficulty is due to the facile oxidation to disulfides, particularly in alkaline media. It was therefore decided to prepare the hydrochloride salts to obtain greater stability.
