Abstract

The essential fatty acids,(82,112,142)-8, 11, 14-eicosatrienoic acid and arachidonic acid, are converted to the prostaglandins El and Ez, respectively, by a multistage biosynthetic process catalyzed by the enzyme prostaglandin synthetase. As part of a program to prepare substrate analogues of these acids with potential prostaglandin synthetase inhibitory activity, we have synthesized (82,112,142)-15-methy1-8, 11, 14-eicosatrienoic acid (l).'This ...
