Zn the prcsenre of Lewis acid catalysts, mixtures of ethoxgsilanes and acetoxysilanes give good yields of ethyl acetate. Thermal dccomposition of the acetoxydane with the intermediate formation of acetic anhydride does not have a role in the formation of the ethyl acetate.
