Abstract: Pyrolysis (400') of 1, 2-benzotropiIidene (1) has been shown to produce naphthalene (Z), 2-methylnaphthalene (3), 1-methylnaphthalene (g), benzocycloheptene (5), and benzocycloheptadiene (6).
