Abstract: Studies of the electrochemical behavior of I-iododecane and I-bramodecane at mercury cathodes in dimethylformamide containing tetra-n-butylammonium perchlorate or tetramethylammonium perchlorate as supporting electrolyte have shown that reduction of the carbon-halogen bond is a one-electron process.
