Abstract: 3, 7, 10-Trimethyl-(3H, 7H, 9H, 1OH)-pyrimido [5, 4-g] pteridine-2, 4, 6, 8-tetrone (PPT,,) and its conjugate base (PPT,;) undergo two-electron reduction to yield 3, 7, 10- trimethyl-(1 H, 3H, 5H, 7H, 9H, lOH)-pyrimid0 [5, 4-g] pteridine-2, 4, 6, 8-tetrone (PPTH,) and its dianion (PPT2-)(Scheme I).
