Abstract

These results indicate that the present acylation fully follows the Markovnikov rule. Furthermore, useful selectivity of the present zinc compounds was found in the acylation of 4- phenyl-1-butene (9) and 2-cyclopropylpropene (1 1) under the similar conditions. The reaction of 9 with 2c or 2d followed by hydrogenation yielded 4-phenylbutyl propyl ketone (1Oc) or 4-phenylbutyl isopropyl ketone (loa) in reasonable yield.
