Abstract

Results Vycor-filtered irradiation of 3.00 mmol of 1, 1, 2, 2-tetraphenylethane (1) in 1200 ml of methanol under nitrogen for 45 min with a 450-W Hanovia mercury vapor lamp caused the disappearance of 0.93 mmol of starting material as well as a yellowing of the reaction mixture.
