Abstract

The cytochromes P-450 are the principal enzymes in liver that are responsible for the oxidative detoxification of nonpolar foreign compounds by mammals.'Among these enzymes, cytochrome P-450c2 is particularly effective in catalyzing the oxidation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and accounts for 70% of the total cytochromes P-450 in the livers of rats that have been treated with the inducer 3-methyl~ holanthrene.~ We have ...
