Abstract

S-Adenosylmethionine decarboxylase (SAMDC) is a rate-limiting enzyme of polyamine (PA) biosynthesis which controls the conversion of the diamine putrescine to the higher polyamines spermidine and spermine.'SAMDC represents a therapeutic target for rapidly proliferating cells which have up to 3 orders of magnitude higher specific activity of PA biosynthetic enzymes and larger polyamine pools and are generally more sensitive to ...
