Abstract

A versatile methodology for the nucleophilic formylation and cyanation of conjugated enones is reported. The procedure is based on the use of formaldehyde dimethylhydrazone, which, acting as a neutral formyl anion equivalent, adds to preformed trialkylsilyl-enone complexes.
