Abstract

Esters exhibit generally poor 1, 3-dipolarophilicity toward carbonyl oxides. 2 Thus, ozonolysis of ethyl vinyl ether in ethyl acetate as solvent afforded only 11% of the expectsd cross-ozonide 3-ethoxy-3-methyl-l, 2, 4-trioxolane, 2c and ozonolysis of 1-methoxy-2-alkyl- or 1-methoxy-2-arylsubstituted ethylenes in solution did not provide any of the corresponding ozonides, even if the reactions were carried out in the presence of the ...
