summary 1. cis-1, 2-Dimethylcyclopentanediol-1, 2 un-dergoes the pinacol rearrangement with migration of a methyl group and production of 2, 2-dimethylcyclopentanone. 2. tvuns-1, 2-Dimethylcyclopentanedioll-1, 2 when boiled with dilute aqueous acid undergoes resinification.
