Abstract

Summary A coiivenient method has been developed for the preparation of crude quassin. This material has been shown to consist essentially of two isomeric substances of the formula C22H3006, each containing two methoxyl groups. These have been separated, and directions are recorded for doing this. It is proposed to retain the name “quassin” for the isomer melting at 205-206'and designate the other isomer, mp 225-226', as “neoquassin.” ...
