Abstract

In an organic solvent and with no added catalyst, thiocyanogen chloride effects nuclear thiocyanation in a much wider range of aromatic hydrocarbons than does thiocyanogen. Reactions between thiocyanogen chloride and m-xylene, higher benzene homologues, naphthalene, and anthracene are described.
