Abstract The reaction of organophosphorus disulfides with trialkylsilylcyanide has been investigated. It provided direct evidence for the intermediacy of thiocyanidate> P (X) SCN, X= O, S in this type of reaction. The disulfides studied involved phosphoryl, phosphonyl and/or phosphinyl disulfides.
