Abstract

The filtrate from the nicotine dipicrate deposited a pre- cipitate on cooling and standing for several days. After recrystallization from water it melted at 163-164", and no depression of the melting point was observed on mixing with metanicotine dipicrate. Summary Nicotine oxide rearranges to form 2-methyl-6- (3-pyridyl) -tetrahydro- 1, 2-oxazine when pyro- lyzed in vacuo. RICHMOND 24, VIRGINIA RECEIVED JULY 27, 1949 ...
