Abstract

Method A was used in effecting this condensation. The product was insoluble in aqueous and alcoholic sodium hydroxide. Its alkali insolubility, its inertness to iodine in acetic acid, and its analysis indicated that the compound was a mercaptql. 26 It gave a positive sulfur test.
