Summary 1. Monovinylacetylene reacts with methyl alcohol in the presence of boron fluoride, mercuric oxide and trichloroacetic acid to yield 2, 2, 4-trimethoxybutane in good yield. 2. A new ketone, 4-methoxybutanone-2, prepared by the hydrolysis of 2, 2, 4- trimethoxybutane has been described.
