Abstract

Abstract Reaction of sulphur tetrafluoride with 1, 3-dihaloacetones to give 1, 3-dihalo-2, 2- difluoropropanes (1, 2, 3), bis (1, 3-dihalo-2-fluoroisopropyl) ethers (4, 5, 6) and 1, 3-dihalo- 2-fluoropropanes (7, 8) has been investigated. Formation of ethers, propanes and propenes as well as 1, 3-dihalo-2-fluoro-2-phenylpropane (9)(electrophilic benzene substitution) was observed in the reactions in benzene solution.
